Some interesting photos of whirlpools & boils from Douglas in
Scotland: http://seakayakphoto.blogspot.com/2008/03/eddy-lines-boils-and-whirlpools-in.html

Anyone seen anything like this in Newfoundland? I'm assuming not
because we don't have the currents here... but perhaps there are some
special places (around Placentia?? perhaps Richard A knows...)

We have a few like that but Scotland has some boat eaters around the
Hebrides.
Those ones are quite manageable but Derrick Hutchinson has the odd
photo of scary things. Richard has some shots from Greenland too I
think.

Some of the world particularly Norway has some wicked whirlpools
especially the infamous or famous I guess, Maelstroom Whirlpool. Here
is a link.

If you google under images, whirlpools of Norway you'll also get some
interesting photos.

Keep your bow above water.
