Kevin Price gave me the dress rehearsal of his presentation for
Wednesday night, Jan. 30th, and I must say that he has done an
excellent job! He bust his arse putting this presentation together,
and there should be a lot in it of great interest to you. The icing on
the cake is that he's a very good photographer.

He's packaged an interesting mix of photos, information and stories
dealing with the history of Loreburn (where he has deep roots), the
Trinity Bay boat building tradition, last summer's food fishery,
weather and sea state conditions in the area, wildlife, etc. Brief
video clips inserted into the mosaic.

We'll go light on the kayaking photos because we've seen most of them
in trip reports and Tony Lee's website. Far better to give Kevin the
floor.

I highly recommend the evening! Mother Nature will cooperate so you
won't be deterred by a blizzard.

Best wishes,
Peter Armitage

January 30, 2008 Southwest Arm / Random Sound Night
7:30 PM Guv'nor Pub on Elizabeth Ave
Explore the history, culture, and kayaking pleasures of Southwest Arm
and Random Sound in Trinity Bay. Kevin Price, who has strong familial
ties to Southwest Arm and who resides in the resettled community of
Loreburn each summer, will share his knowledge of the area. A
smorgasbord of photos taken during various kayaking excursions will
help to illustrate the great beauty of the area.

This was definately worth the effort of getting out in this horriffic
winter (lol) weather to attend. And, it was very well attended,
pretty much standing room only. All very interesting and lots of
pictures of some great scenery. Thanks very much to Peter Armitage
for putting this together and Kevin Price for his presentation.
Tack's Beach, Lourborn ... where to next Peter?

That was spot on.
Thanks Peter.
I have met Kevin Price before. It is a spectacular spot.
I had to chuckle at his view of the ship wrecks. For most of us they
are marks of character but if they are in your back garden they are a
scar.
A case of beauty being in the eye of the beholder. Conception Harbour
wrecks make it a neat paddling and diving destination, Bell island;
the cannons off Bauline, the submerged Sapphire in Bay Bulls. To live
next to them they are much like a car wreck.
What a great presentation!
Also a great paddle destination.

Thank you, Kevin and Peter, for such a great evening!

It adds so much to the paddling experience to have a better
appreciation of the history and people living in the places we visit.

Thanks guys,
Neil

That was truely an inspired presentation and I can only hope that
Kevin meant it when he invited members to drop by when in the area.
Careful what you wish for!
Thank you intrepid Peter Armitage for pulling it together and many
thanks to Kevin Price for a great evening. Maybe we can see about
making Kevin an offer to join KNL.
